What the 2026 CBAM default-value correction (IR 2026/1740) means
The Commission corrected default values in Implementing Regulation 2026/1740. Here's what it changes for steel and aluminium importers in practice.

The TL;DR
Implementing Regulation 2026/1740 corrected the default-value tables originally set by IR 2025/2621. The yearly mark-up structure is unchanged: +10 % (2026), +20 % (2027), +30 % (2028+).
What’s different for importers
- Default values themselves have moved in some product × origin combinations. Importers who were relying on earlier numbers in planning spreadsheets should refresh.
- Mark-up schedule is unchanged.
- Scope is unchanged.
What CBAMWorks is doing
The reference data in CBAMWorks loads the corrected tables automatically. If you ran a calculation before 2026-08-15 using default values, re-run it now to pick up the new figures.
